Zipper Transformation – Post 2

Working Through the Worst

During what is likely the hardest week in the history of Chance Rides the best we know to do is to continue the work.  Chance Rides will persevere and it is because of rides like the Zipper and the skilled employees that build them.

Here you will see some of the dis-assembly process as the real work begins on the refurbishment of this Zipper.

Zipper Seats

Some of these seats were a little more stubborn than others in the removal process. Who among you have been a part of this precarious process?

The Zipper Rides Again!

Work has begun on the latest Zipper that has come here to be born again.  This Zipper will be completely disassembled, cleaned and rebuilt to leave our factory in like-new condition.  And this rebuild will include a surprising change when it returns to the midway.  Stay with me here to follow along as the process is revealed.

2015 Houston Livestock Show VIP Tour and Hospitality Event

logo_houston_livestock_show_rodeo_blkLast weekend was the 2nd annual Chance Rides VIP Event at the Houston Livestock Show.  We again had the help of Ray Cammack Shows to provide a spectacular tour of their midway operation.  And of course we took the opportunity to introduce our guests to the fantastic Freestyle ride that Ray Cammack Shows operates on their Midway.

RCS Freestyle

We appreciate the time that all of our guests took to come out and enjoy the tour as well as the review of our rides.  We had about 25 guests in all that enjoyed an amazing tour, a catered dinner in the RCS hospitality tent and all access to the Houston Livestock Show Midway.  Many thanks to the Ray Cammack Shows team for providing such an unforgettable experience.

To find our more about the portable rides available from Chance Rides as we refocus our efforts in the Carnival market please contact Jeff Miller at 316-945-6555.  Or email sales@chancerides.com.

Freestyle a Midway Hit

Ray Cammack Shows wrapped up the carnival at the OC Fair in Costa Mesa, California yesterday.  Did you have a chance to ride the new Freestyle ride?  Freestyle is the new update to the original one-trailer ride the Trabant.  Seats were turned to face outward and the ride lifts to 60 degrees with lots of action both horizontal and vertical.  See for yourself in this video posted by a fan on YouTube.

Your next chance to go Freestyle will be at the LA County Fair, opening on August 29th.  Let us know what you think!

The Capital Wheel at National Harbor – Chance Rides R60 Giant Observation Wheel

jonpetersonspeechA Ferris wheel is something that automatically conjures up nostalgic images in your mind, however, Chance Rides is one manufacturer that is helping to make Ferris wheels new again.  There is a brand new addition to the skyline in our nations capital and it is called The Capital Wheel.  This is no ordinary Ferris wheel though, this is a 180 ft tall observation wheel.  The Capital Wheel at National Harbor is an R60 Giant Observation Wheel designed by Ronald Bussink Ag and manufactured by Chance Rides.  The wheel features 42 climate controlled gondolas, providing 360 degree views of the beautiful Washington DC area.  Positioned right over the historic Potomac river, guests will have views of the National Monument, the U.S. Capital, the city of Alexandria and Prince Georges County.  The wheel features 1.6 million programmable LED lights making the wheel itself a show at night.  It is something that must truly be experienced.  Click here to see the whole project come together from the ground up.

San Antonio Zootenial Carousel

The San Antonio Zoo is turning 100 years old in 2014.  To celebrate this great history of animal Horned Lizard Carousel Figureconservation and community enjoyment they have added a beautiful 50′ wildlife carousel.  This amazing custom carousel features 4 new wildlife figures that Chance Rides has added to the available catalog, the horny toed lizard, the tortoise, the hippopotamus and the sea turtle.  Each figure was painstakingly carved by our talented artists and then molded for fiberglass production.  Each figure is handpainted and no two are exactly alike.  The Zootennial Carousel includes a total of 60 figures and 2 custom chariots, 1 spinning and 1 ADA compliant.  The San Antonio Zoo sold naming rights to each of these locations as a fundraiser for the expansion.

Swinging Ship Ride Thrills in Three New Cities.

Swinging Ship Ride Thrills in Three New Cities.

For many of us the first thrill ride we experience is the good ole backyard swing.  And really, is there anything better than that wiggle in your stomach as you reach the peak of the swing just before coming back down?  How about a ride on a giant swinging ship?  That’s right, for me the thrill of the good ole swing set is magnified 10 fold as I take my place on the Chance Rides Pharaoh’s Fury.  This year three parks are welcoming this fantastic swinging ship into their parks.  Trader’s Village in San Antonio, TX took delivery of our classic Pharaoh’s Fury swinging ship complete with massive golden Pharaoh’s perched at either end of the ship.

Holiday World in Santa Claus, IN
and Playland’s Castaway Cove put a slightly different spin on their swinging ship rides.  Holiday World brought the Mayflower home to Thanksgiving land.  Their viking ship was complete with crests of armor at each opening and a detailed mast on each end. Watch this to see the Mayflower as it gets built.

At Playland’s Castaway Cove their viking ship is called the Buccaneer, and it is poised to take riders on a ride over the stormy seas.

The Chance Rides Giant Wheel Makes it into Professional Baseball

This summer when the people in and around Davenport, IA set out for a day at the ballpark, they will be treated to a whole new experience.  Just behind the fence in the left field of Modern Woodmen Park you will see a new Giant Wheel built by Chance Rides.  The Quad Cities River Bandits are the first minor league baseball team to host a permanent Ferris wheel inside their ball park.  The addition is part of a full entertainment concept being added to the stadium by team owner Dave Heller.  He wants to make the ballpark something that everyone in the family will enjoy.  Not to mention give people a reason to come out to the ballpark even when the team isn’t in town.  Learn more in this story published by Ballpark Digest.

New From Chance Rides

At Chance Rides we are working hard to bring more new items to the market in 2014.  We delivered our first new Freestyle in August and look forward to producing a few more in the coming months.

Also, new for 2014 is the latest in thrilling roller coasters from Chance Rides, the HyperGT-X.  You’ll feel the thrill from this coaster as you experience the 79 degree 1st drop and 4G force pullout.  This compact coaster design provides all the tummy tickling excitement your guests are after as it finishes with a series of camel backs that lift you off your seat.

And last but certainly not least we have the introduction of the R80 XL II Observation Wheel.  At over 250 ft tall this wheel is a modern marvel.  The wheel accommodates 54 (8) passenger or 27 (16) passenger gondolas that are climate controlled and feature two-way communication.  There are many seating configurations available to ensure that you can give your guests the experience you prefer.  There is even an option to include VIP luxury cabins for a truly special experience.
